Eastleigh Borough Council is proud of its green spaces, woodlands and two fantastic Country Parks which all play a vital role in the health and wellbeing of our communities. We are now looking for an experienced Tree Officer to join its award winning Streetscene Team to support the important work of maintaining our beautiful trees.

As part of a small team, you will be responsible for devising and delivering an inspection programme for EBC owned tree stock, as well as responding to tree work applications, notifications and planning consultations.

To be successful you will have a minimum qualification of a National Diploma in Arboriculture Level 3 or equivalent experience, you’ll be confident in all aspects of arboriculture including tree identification skills, developing tree survey inspection methodology, undertaking tree surveys and tree protection legislation. Knowledge of land ownership and management through Land Registry and GIS and a proven ability to operate and adhere to health and safety procedures is also necessary.

Enthusiastic, professional with an ability to work independently, you will be able to prioritise your workload and work effectively with customers, residents, arboriculture consultancies, planning specialists and Councillors. You will also have great communication skills and be able to provide reasoned judgements on occasionally contentious matters.
