CarbonFREE is Eastleigh Borough Council’s initiative to compensate for the unavoidable carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) from its own main operations.
We have grants available for schemes that result in direct carbon reductions in Eastleigh Borough.
Historically this has been loft and cavity wall insulation but we have also run offers for Water butts. Our current offers for fruiting trees and community buildings, can be found on the Grants and Discounts page.
Carbon Neutral Council
CarbonFREE was initially set up in 2007 with the goal to be carbon neutral by July 2012. During this time we cut our own emissions by 18% and offset the rest by insulating over 300 homes in the borough with a saving of almost 5000 tonnes of CO2.
We were joined in the scheme by the borough’s three main bus companies, First, Black Velvet and Bluestar, who contributed more than £12,000 between them to insulate and install renewable energy facilities on community buildings in the borough.
