EBC Community Buildings
Listed below are some of the projects we have supported through the EBC Community Buildings Grant
1. The 14th Eastleigh Scout Group
Based in Allbrook and home to the Spitfires Scout & Guide marching band, the 14th Eastleigh Scout Group embarked on an impressive energy enhancement of their Head Quarters. They wanted young people to be aware of climate change and its impact and that the group as a whole needed to play its small part in helping to reduce that impact.
The Council awarded a grant towards the installation of an Air Source Heat Pump to heat the building and with other grants they improved the grounds; replaced and insulated the roof; energy efficient lights & doors; rainwater harvesting; solar thermal and PV systems. The building is now run with a minimal impact on the environment.
2. Centrestage Productions Youth Theatre
Based at The Arch in Chandler's Ford, Centrestage benefitted from match funding from the Community Buildings Fund to install an Air Source Heat Pump to replace gas convection heaters. Not only has it saved over £2,000 per year but it has reduce the damp and made the dance hall a more pleasant place to practise.
3. Greyladyes Art Foundation (GAF)
GAF was founded to preserve the Grade II listed chapel in Old Bursledon. It needed extensive renovation including replacing the roof and insulating the building. Space was tight in the roof so the Council granted some money towards the cost of a specially thin insulation quilt as well as more standard solid insulation in other areas. It has made the building a more comfortable place for the community to meet.
4. Eastleigh Youth & Community Trust (EYCT)
EYCT provides a wide range of activities for all ages out of the Pavillion on the Park adjacent to the Nightingale estate. Their project was to build a new annexe which would host the 4th Eastleigh Scout Group, HCC Adult service and more. The Council gave them a grant towards roof insulation and a Ground Source Heat Pump which will heat the extension.
