Using less electricity, gas and water is the only long term way of keeping your utility bills under control.

If you are getting into difficulties paying your bill, it is important not to ignore them, contact your supplier who is obliged to help you. We have some more specific advice available on our overdue bills page.

Other short term measures which can help reduce the amount you pay on your electricty and gas bills, include switching your supplier. Millions of households could benefit and the government is pressing ahead with plans to make it quicker and easier by installing smart meters.
