Highbridge Community Farm is a popular community facility in Allbrook and it is expanding and looking for keen people willing to get their hands dirty.

They aim to produce wholesome food locally, while promoting a healthy lifestyle and building a community life in and around Eastleigh. Everyone is offered training and encouragement in vegetable and fruit growing and growing together means it is fun too.

Stakeholders pay an annual membership fee of £10 and commit to working on the farm for 10 hours a month. So a family of five would need to work for two hours.

Members can purchase the organic produce at greatly reduced prices.

The few times I have visited, there was a tremendous community spirit and they always stop at 11am for a tea break which is a great way to get to know everyone.

Come along on a Saturday morning, there is always someone there but contact them first just to make sure. They also have a Facebook page.
