It is very important that you inform the benefit section about changes in your circumstances. Not only does it prevent overpayments but is also ensures that you receive the money to which you are entitled. If the change increases the amount of benefit you should receive you will not get the increased amount from the date of change unless you tell us within 1 month of that change.
Examples of change in circumstances that you must tell us include:
- Changes in income, other benefits/Tax Credit or in your savings
- Changes to your rent
- Changes in the number of people living in your household
- Any period that you plan to be away from your home
- Changes in the amount of childcare you pay
