The Eastleigh Business Conference 2019, held at The Berry Theatre in Hedge End was very successful.
The Council’s Economic Development team received very positive feedback from attendees at the event that showcased Borough businesses, gave profile to Council grant recipients and presented awards to companies that promoted health and wellbeing and sustainability.
Eastleigh has already been voted a business-friendly location, and the conference shared knowledge and best practice, including a spotlight on sustainable building and funding and support information from the Solent LEP, Hampshire Chamber and others.
The Made in Eastleigh showcase showed off innovative products produced in the Borough, and the Green Borough and Healthy Community Awards recognised businesses demonstrating excellence in promoting health and environmental sustainability, two of the Council’s key priorities.
Councillor Derek Pretty, Cabinet Member for Economy, presented awards to School Lane Colour Press, winner of the Green Borough Award; PurpleLily Design, highly commended in the Green Borough Award, and DocHQ, winner of the Healthy Community Award.
Made in Eastleigh
Lifestyling Kitchen provided an excellent spread of fresh, healthy, handmade food which was popular with guests. The food was washed down with samples of craft beer from local micro brewery, Steam Town Brew Co. - an Eastleigh brewpub, growing in popularity since it opened in December 2017.
The Made In Eastleigh Exhibition featured other local companies from across the Borough of Eastleigh, including:
- Cadical 3D
- Measure my Energy
- Yellow Interiors
- Peter Green
- PONToon project
- One Community
- The Concorde
- School Lane Colour Press
Grant recipients thrive
Tom Pratt of Lifestyling Kitchen received an 'Incentive To Grow Grant' from the Economic Development team earlier this year. Read more about how this has benefited his business. Tom wasn't the only grant recipient in attendance, we also heard from Annabela Varganova of Top Hat Cleaning and Louisa White of Joyful Jams
Make a date for November’s Business Breakfast
The Economic Development Team is planning a business breakfast on the morning of Thursday 7 November, which should be an excellent networking opportunity. More details will be published closer to the event.
