Boat and boatman licences

We are the licensing authority for pleasure vessels operating out of the River Hamble (both the Hamble and Warsash sides of the river).

Applications for boat and boatman licenses should be made to Eastleigh Borough Council and a licence is required for pleasure vessels carrying 12 or less fee-paying passengers.

Please note: all new Boat Licenses will only be issued for a maximum duration of one year and will expire at the end of February. The Insurance cover to be provided must be a minimum cover of £5,000,000.00.

For 2021, the follow administration fees apply:

• Boat or Boatmen licence applications – £100
• Boat or Boatmen licence variations – £40
• Replacement licences – £25

Cheques should be made payable to Eastleigh Borough Council and applications may take up to 28 days to process

Vessels requiring inspection should contact the River Hamble Harbour Master (contact details below). Their inspection fee is £94.50 (until 31 March 2021) or £96.40 (from 1 April 2021).
