New Enterprise Allowance
If you are aged 18 or over and claiming Job Seekers Allowance you can get help from the New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) to set up your own business. In most cases this help is available from the first day of your benefit claim.
Once your business plan has been approved, your benefit claim ended and your business started you will receive financial support of:
- a weekly allowance worth £1,274 over 26 weeks, paid at £65 a week for the first 13 weeks and £33 a week for a further 13 weeks, and
- the facility to access a loan to help with start-up costs, subject to status.
