Showcasing council careers in Eastleigh
Eastleigh College Careers Fair on Tuesday 5 March
The diverse range of careers available at Eastleigh Borough Council will be showcased during National Careers Week, which coincides with National Apprenticeship Week, from Monday 4 to Friday 8 March.
Eastleigh College is holding a careers fair on Tuesday 5 March and the Council will host a stand highlighting roles that will appeal to candidates from a range of backgrounds, and with all kinds of experience. District authorities like Eastleigh employ a wide variety of people that you might not normally associate with your local council - from lawyers, planners, property surveyors and accountants, to countryside rangers, HGV drivers, motor mechanics and local response officers who deal with a range of issues in neighbourhoods across the Borough.
The Council also has a thriving apprenticeship programme with young people successfully completing nationally recognised qualifications in areas such as customer services, business administration and vehicle maintenance.
As a professional and technical college, Eastleigh College supports learners aged from 16 to 18 to get ready for the workplace. Their students are on a range of courses, at different levels, with the aim of progressing into employment, an apprenticeship or higher education.
The careers fair is designed to give their students, including school pupils from across the area, more information about the local labour market and careers in their area. Members of the Council ‘s HR team will also take part in mock interviews to help give learners an idea of what to expect during the selection process and improve their interview technique.
