Regional event to inspire young engineers

Free festival outlines careers

Businesses in the South Hampshire region are being urged to exhibit at a free event in November designed to inspire more young people to follow a career in engineering.

The Solent Festival of Engineering, which takes a place on Thursday 8 November from 10.30am to 3pm at Fareham Leisure Centre will give young people an insight into the importance of engineering, as well as a chance to find out about the many careers available in the sector.

The festival, which comes during the UK’s Year of Engineering, is open to all primary and secondary schools and colleges in the area spanning Southampton to Havant. Companies will have the chance to showcase their work and meet potential recruits, apprentices and future engineers.

Eastleigh businesses interested in appearing at the festival should email karen.small@parliament.uk by 30 September.
