Green Bin Recycling
Enter your postcode in the box on the right to
find your bin collection day.
Why recycle?
- Recycling saves energy, helps to reduce pollution, conserves
natural resources, reduces the need to landfill and will probably
save you money
- Over 47% of Eastleigh residents' rubbish is recycled. It is
used to make a variety of new products from floor tiles to fleece
jackets which is great for the economy and the environment.
- Recycling helps to reduce the amount of waste that goes to
landfill, cuts down on energy use and pollution and provides jobs
for local people. The cost of dealing with rubbish is rising
steeply so the more we recycle, the more we will save.
- Find out what happens to your paper,
cardboard, plastic bottles, tins and cans once they are
collected!
Eastleigh Borough Council collect recyclable waste in a
green wheeled bin. Currently you can recycle the following:
Your bin must be placed at
the kerbside from 06:30
on the collection day stated in your copy of the Direct
Services' Guide for Householders. Additional recyclable waste can
be left out for collection in clear sacks only.
Missed bins
If you have placed your bin out for collection from 06:30 on the
correct collection day and it has not been emptied, please
report it to our Support Services team by:
Once reported, and providing there is no reason for the bin
not being emptied, we will aim to empty the bin on the next working
day.
If you have found a hanger on your bin, please follow the
instructions printed.
Damaged or stolen bins
If your bin has been damaged or stolen, please report it to
our Support Services team by:
We will arrange for a replacement to be delivered as soon as
possible. Any damaged bins to be removed will need to be empty.
Before reporting a missing bin please check your surrounding
area, they often turn out to be hiding round the corner!
Bin upgrades
Bins are allocated depending on the number of residents
permanently living at the property. Please check you have the
correct number of bins:
1 or 2 permanent residents - 1
set of 140 litre bins
3 or 4 permanent residents - 1 set of 240
litre bins
We will arrange for additional recycling bins to be delivered to
your property if needed.
Using these criteria, you will have enough space in each
bin for the fortnightly collection. If you feel that, despite
recycling everything possible, you still need additional capacity
for domestic waste please download our bin upgrade
application form or request one from Support
Services:
When you receive the upgrade application form you will need
to include evidence proving the number of people officially
registered at your address. Once the completed application is
received, we will arange for the bins to be exchanged/delivered at
the earliest opportunity.
If you feel that you still need additional bins despite having
the correct allocation we can arrange for a member of the recycling
team to visit your property. The team will be able to give advice
on recycling and waste minimsation and, in certain circumstances,
allocate additional bins if deemed necessary.
