Beach Pollution/Oil Spills
Oil on the Shoreline
Incidents involving
shipping in Southampton Water can lead to oil spills which may
result in the coastline of Netley, Hamble and Bursledon being
affected.
The Council is responsible for cleaning up the shoreline above
the low water line and when an incident occurs an Emergency Plan is
put into place, including the provision of warning signs.

Objects and Debris on the Shoreline
If
chemicals containers and other large objects are deposited on the
shoreline you are advised to keep well clear and upwind of
them. contact us immediatly
General Waste on the shoreline
Waste and
litter deposited on the shoreline and left on the high water mark
is removed during periodic shoreline cleaning which is carried out
by the Council's Direct Services Unit.
