Vehicle & Intruder Alarms
Intruder alarms which are incorrectly fitted or are faulty or of
poor quality can cause considerable annoyance and nuisance to
others by sounding repeatedly. Where this happens the Council can
take action to silence the alarm and to recover our costs for doing
so from the car or house owner.
If you are bothered by an alarm, contact the Environmental
Health Service and we can take prompt action to get the alarm
silenced.
The costs of silencing alarms can be considerable, and if the
problem occurs outside of normal office hours the costs will
inevitably be higher. The Council will always seek to recover the
costs that it incurs from the owner of the alarm and this could
easily reach several hundred pounds.
Such costs can be largely avoided if details of the alarm
keyholders are sent to this Service including an alternative
contact if you are on holiday.
