Exhumation of Human Remains
Exhumations can be carried out for a number of reasons, but it
is illegal to disturb human remains without lawful permission.
It is necessary to apply for a licence from the Ministry
of Justice to carry out an exhumation. Such applications
are free of chargte and ifa licence is granted it will contain a
number of conditions which must be complied with.
An Environmental Health Officer will normally attend an
exhumation to ensure that public safety and decency is
maintained.
