Dog Collar and Tag
The
Control of Dogs Order 1992 requires dogs to wear a
collar and tag when in public. The name and
address of the owner or keeper must be inscribed.
Failure to wear a correctly inscribed collar and/or tag carries a
maximum penalty of £5,000. Any dog without a tag can be seized
and treated as a stray. Stray dogs may be reclaimed by
the owner on payment of all fees incurred.
If your dog escapes or gets lost, even if it is not wearing a
tag, contact the Animal Welfare Officers. They will
inform you if they are holding a dog matching your dog's
description. They will also advise you on further action to
take.

public All veterinary surgeries and Local Authorities
