Council Supports B&Q 10K
The B&Q Eastleigh 10K is set for the largest ever entry in
aid of the Mayor of Eastleigh's Appeal.
This years B&Q Eastleigh 10K Road Race is on course for its
largest ever entry with around 2500 runners expected to enter this
popular and prestigious running event on Sunday 25 March.
Entries have been pouring in for this the
28th anniversary event that has again been sponsored by
B&Q plc with support from Eastleigh Borough Council and is
organised by Southampton Athletic Club.
Race Director Steve Collins says “Response to this year’s event
has been simply fantastic with runners descending on Eastleigh from
across the UK and from across the channel .The event is now one of
the best 10K’s in the country and it really helps to put Eastleigh
on the map! It’s also a great way to celebrate 21 years of support
from B&Q with the largest ever entry to the event that they
have supported so magnificently since 1992”.
The race day also includes a Fun Run for local youngsters
between 5-12 years of age and hundreds of youngsters will again run
2K around Fleming Park to earn their ‘gold’ medal and
t-shirt. He added “This year the children can run 2012 metres
in 2012 and get their own gold medal in Olympic year.- so if you
want your children to join in the fun send in an entry form as soon
as possible.”
The event is run in aid of the Mayor of
Eastleigh’s Appeal which this year is Age Concern, Eastleigh and
HCPT group 170 – a charity that takes children with disabilities
and special needs on a pilgrimage holiday to Lourdes.
