Auditors find Council provides quality, value for money
services
Eastleigh Borough Council is providing quality value for money
services according to the findings of Independent Government
auditors.
In its annual Audit Letter, the District Auditor has endorsed the
Borough’s Council’s approach to the ongoing challenges set by the
Government’s reduction in public spending and outlined how the
Council continues to have strong financial management and continues
to seek further opportunities for improving value for money in its
services, despite financial constraints.
Leader of the Council Cllr Keith House said: “The annual letter
from the District Auditor shows that we are continuing to deliver
excellent value for money for residents of our borough. We
have been successful in identifying and achieving savings as we
continue to deliver a balanced budget despite ongoing financial
pressures form government and continue to preserve essential
services.” He added ” The Council’s approach of making
significant investment in capital projects has helped to generate
income to help ease the pressure on services and the council
taxpayer.”
In response to the challenge of reduced public sector funding
and increased demand for services, Eastleigh Borough Council
embarked on an extensive and significant capital programme of
investment. This has included property purchase and development and
reflects the Council’s wider economic and regeneration
objectives.
