Health Works and Health Walks
The Active Lifestyles team work in partnership with Local Health
agencies and DC Leisure to promote an Exercise Referral Scheme
(Health Works) based at Fleming Park Leisure Centre. The
scheme is an NHS- endorsed Accredited Scheme at Silver Level. This
means the scheme is a Recognised Scheme of Excellence providing a
high quality of service.

As part of the scheme, patients are offered a reduced rate on
activities including swimming, aquatherapy, gym sessions and
cardiac rehabilitation. Health Walks are also part of the scheme
and take place around the Eastleigh Borough and are Free! Some of
the sessions also take place at Hamble and Wildern School.

Health Works Exercise Referral Scheme
What is it?
A 12 week Physical Activity Referral Scheme which
is designed to provide opportunities for people to improve
their health by becoming more active, more often.
Who is it for?
Anyone over 16 who may be at risk
from conditions that would benefit from an increase in physical
activity including being overweight/obese, smoking, having high
blood pressure or suffering from stress
How does it work?
Following an assessment from their
GP, patients who are given a Physical Activity Referral are
given a FREE consultation with a member of the Health Works
team. After this consultation a personal exercise
programme is designed according to the individual. Support is
provided on the scheme by regular reassessments and encouragement.
For more information please contact Healthworks on 02380

Health Walks
What is it?
Through funding from NHS Hampshire, Health Walks are
organised walks led by a qualified walk leader. We run 11
walks every week throughout the year come rain or
shine. Walking is a great calorie burner. It is low intensity,
low impact, easily sustainable and easy to do. All you need is a
good pair of shoes, suitable clothing for the weather and
enthusiasm!!.
We warmly welcome you to come along and join in with this great
form of exercise, which is healthy, fun and free!!! Each walk lasts
approximately 1 hour with a distance of 3 miles covered. Some walks
may have fast and slow walking groups.
