Coaches, Officials and Volunteers
Coaches, officials and volunteers are crucial for sport at all
levels - on the school pitch, in the local club or for
international athletes. They are the people who motivate,
encourage, inspire and work behind the scenes to make the
club perform to its best ability.

Coaching
Each sport is regulated by its own National Governing Body.
These bodies are responsible for the provision of the rules and
regulations governing their respective sports and represent their
sports at a national and international level. For a list of
recognised sports please visit Sport
England's website
The United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC)
is a nationally recognised coach education qualification which sits
at the heart of a cross sport initiative to make the UK world
leaders in coaching by 2016. Several sports including cycling and
swimming have already successfully launched UKCC qualifications.
The
United Kingdom Coaching Certificate website
Sports Coach UK is dedicated to guiding the
development and implementation of a coaching system, recognised as
a world leader, for all coaches at every level in the UK. Sports Coach UK website
Coaching Hampshire & IOW is an online

Officiating
In whatever sport a sportsperson may perform they ultimately
turn to an official for a decision. Officials operate in a
multitude of different sports each with their own set of laws and
rules.
The National Skills Academy plays a vital role
in providing easier access to these qualifications and skills
through a coherent and innovative approach to training provision
within the sector. National Skills Academy

The Young Officials' Programme is run by the Youth
Sports Trust. This programme is designed to support National
Governing Bodies to establish a structure for the development of
Young Officials throughout England. Young full-time volunteers lead
the project working within their chosen NGB to act as a role model
to inspire and support other young people. The programme offers a
defined role for 14 - 19 year old volunteers to become sports
officials and provides a local skilled workforce. Young

Clubmark
Clubmark is the only national cross sports quality accreditation
scheme for clubs with junior sections. It is built around a set of
core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set
of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.
Sport England recognises and values the commitment made by
sports clubs to develop high quality, welcoming environments for
young participants.
Clubmark is endorsed by all the main sporting, youth and
education agencies involved in delivery of sporting opportunity for
young people as the accreditation scheme for clubs with quality
assured junior sections. A club is accredited via either its
licensed National Governing Body or County Sports Partnership. It
must, therefore, be affiliated to the relevant Sport England
recognised NGB in order to be accredited.
More than 10,000 clubs across around 35 sports are
currently Clubmark accredited or ‘working towards' the award. These
cover a diverse array of sports from ball games such as tennis,
cricket and rugby to water sports like swimming, canoeing and
rowing.
Please visit www.clubmark.org.uk for more
detailed information or contact janine.pickering@eastleigh.gov.uk
for support with any Eastleigh Club's accreditation.
