Visiting Lakeside Country Park

Visiting Lakeside

Welcome to Lakeside Country Park, 60 acres of lakes, wet meadow and woodland situated along Wide Lane between Eastleigh and Southampton.

These restored gravel works offer the ideal day out for all, and for the keen-eyed, the Country Park has a range of birds, insects and small mammals as well as the occasional fox and deer. Enjoy a walk around with your dog on the designated paw trail or stop and have lunch at one of our picnic sites. Relax with a days fishing, or a fun ride on the train, or just watch the world go by...

Car: From J5 M27 & follow Eastleigh A335 (Wide Lane) signs for ½ mile. The park entrance is on the left hand side just past the playing fields.

For Sat Navs our post code is SO50 5PE

Parking is free all day on weekends and for 4 hours during the week.

We have a RADAR key operated disabled toilet and parking spaces for disabled badge holders close to the pavilion and lakes. Unfortunately we no longer have a mobility scooter.

Train: Nearest stop Parkway station (5min walk from Park entrance. Turn right on leaving Parkway, cross the main road on the pelican crossing and head for Eastleigh. Entrance is ¼ mile on left.

Foot: An easy 20 min walk from Eastleigh town centre following the High Street. A public footpath enters the park from Monks Way off Chestnut Avenue.

Bike: From Eastleigh Town Centre pick up cycleway signs for Southampton. Just past the Concorde Club turn left over the ford. Alternatively, access the park via Monks Way Open Space, off Monks Way.

Dogs
Dogs are welcome in the park. However, to protect wildlife and ensure that everyone enjoys their visit "Dogs on Leads" byelaws apply to the mown area around the Pavilion building, the picnic areas and around the lakes.

We ask all dog owners to follow a couple of simple rules:-

* Please pick up after your dog, there are dog bins around the site for your use.
* Please keep your dog under close control as this site has sensitive wildlife and not all visitors are fond of dogs - especially muddy ones!

Wildfowl
Please do not feed the geese and ducks as:

* It encourages disease (enteritis in ducks).
* It can attract rats and more food means more rats!
* It pollutes the water.
