Forest School Volunteers
|
Without our wonderful volunteers we would struggle to run Forest
School here at Itchen Valley Country Park. They have all been CRB
checked as they are working with children and are ready to go.
On Thursday 15th April we gathered in the Woodland Classroom and
introduced them to the wonders of campfires, Kelly Kettles, axe
use, knife skills, bowsaws and knots - some of the basic
skills we use with the visiting groups.
Each person was given a length of rope to keep that would be
needed for knots in the sessions and a folder of 'useful'
information.
The morning went well and everybody had a go at all the skills
and managed to make a cup of coffee using the Kelly
Kettles and are now ready to tackle the groups!
Always Welcome!
If you would like to volunteer on a weekly basis with our Forest
school, we are always keen to welcome more people. All we ask is
that you commit to a block of six weekly half days (or more if you
are keen). We will arrange the CRB and you will be off and
running.
