Suggested Kit List

Children of different ages take part in different activities and
therefore require differing levels of equipment.
The lists below take this into account and give a rough guide to
the basics needed.
- Spare waterproofs (for those children who get caught out!)
- Wellies (try charity shops or ask around)
- Ropes and string (for tying shelter supports, learning knots
and general craft use)
- Tarpaulins (lightweight but strong and waterproof for
shelter building)
- Tarpaulins (cheaper kind for sitting on)
- Bug pots/pond dipping equipment
- Identification sheets
- Tent pegs and mallet
- Plastic drinking mugs (brightly coloured helps them to be found
again)
- First Aid Kit (including fire blanket and tic removers)
- Fire equipment (2 orange buckets for water, fire blanket,
matches/strikers in a tin, cotton wool, petroleum jelly and
paper/tinder)
- Water carrier (for drinking water)
- Tools (basic includes bowsaws, potato peelers, knives (for
older children), saw horse, junior hacksaws and
secateurs/loppers)
- Sawn poles and logs (for shelter building and craft
activities)
Other equipment that may be of use depending on the age of
children:
- Kelly Kettles
- Billy Cans
- Chopping boards and cooking equipment
- Axes
- Power drill
Storage for equipment:
- Plastic boxes for craft equipment and minibeast hunting
- Ammunition boxes for knives and sharp equipment (you will
always hear if a child tries to sneak in to get a knife as you
cannot get into one quietly!)
- Metal tin to keep matches dry
- Tool bag for bowsaws and other equipment
