Site Inspection Notification
Building Regulations require that the person carrying out
building work shall give the Council Notice when the work has
reached a particular stage. These stages are set out
below. Notice may be given in writing, telephone, e-mail,
facsimile or in person.
The following are the stages at which notification if applicable
must be given. Stage 6 is not mandatory but is strongly
recommended.
1, Commencement - at least 2 working days before work
commences
2, Foundation Excavation - at least 1 working day prior to
concreting
3, Foundation Concrete - at least 1 working day prior to covering
of the concrete
4, Damp Proof Course - at least 1 working day prior to covering of
damp proof course
5, Ground Floor Oversite Preparation - at least 1 working day prior
to laying of concrete
6, Structural Timber, Steelwork or Concrete - at least 1 working
day prior to covering
7, Drains & Private Sewers - at least 1 working day prior to
covering
8, Drains after Covering - within 5 working days of covering to
enable testing to be carried out
9, Occupation before Completion - not less than 5 working days
before occupation
10, Completion - within 5 working days of completion of building
works
In some cases additional inspections may also be considered
necessary, if so you will be advised by the Inspecting
Surveyor.
Wherever possible inspections of the building works will be
carried out the same day providing Notice is received prior to
10.00 am.
