Current Traffic Consultations and Feasibility Studies
B3033 Lower Northam Road and A334 Grange Road, Hedge End
- Proposed Shared Use Cycleway
Eastleigh Borough Council, working in
partnership with Hampshire County Council is seeking views on a
proposed cycle route along Lower Northam Road, Hedge End. The
project has been identified for progression following a feasibility
study examining accessibility for both pedestrians and cyclists in
the Lower Northam Road area and a longer term objective of
providing a cycle route between Hedge End and Botley.
The proposed line of the route runs along the
footway of the northern side of Lower Northam Road, starting from
Cedar Close, progressing eastwards to the Maypole Roundabout and
then along Grange Road towards Botley.
It is proposed to widen the existing footway
along Lower Northam Road to a minimum width of 2.5m throughout the
route. Additionally, it is proposed to widen two junction
islands at the Maypole Roundabout and provide a new shared use
cycle link through the Kings Copse Avenue junction.
Pedestrian refuge and cycle crossing points
are proposed in two locations in Lower Northam Road, one to the
west of the junction of Hilton Road and the other to the west of
the junction of Hobb Lane.
Comments concerning the proposals should be
submitted by Friday 25 November 2011.
