A new way to book the medical transport
service
Nearly 20,000 trips have been made by the
council’s subsidised medical transport service since its launch
just over six years ago.
In that time borough residents have benefited
from door-to-door transport to local hospitals, doctor’s surgeries
and medical centres. The service was created for people who do not
have access to a car, find travelling by car difficult or where
there is no public transport service available when they need to
travel. The service, which is available seven days a week, is
designed for patients attending a medical appointment or visiting
friends and relatives in hospital. The scheme aims to accommodate
wheelchair users.
From May 2012, the service can be booked via
mobile phone texting on 07894 684 969 or by emailing a2bmedicaltransport@hotmail.co.uk
The upgrade in the service is designed for passengers who are hard
of hearing or who have difficulty using the telephone (this is only
available for residents in West End, Hedge End, Botley, Eastleigh,
Chandler’s Ford, Hiltingbury, Bishopstoke, Fair Oak and Horton
Heath using the A2B medical transport service).
