BT Payphone Consultation

British Telecom (BT) is carrying out consultation about the possible removal of 15 payphones from various locations in Eastleigh.

As part of the consultation process, the Council has been asked to comment on the proposals. We would like to hear the views of Councillors, Parish and Town Councils and residents who may potentially be affected by BT's proposals. Your views will help us to formulate our response to BT. 

A full list of the payphones that are at risk is included below, and you can use our Online Form to tell us your views on this plan or object to the removal of a payphone near you. Guidance on the removal process can be downloaded and printed off from the OfCom website.

BT says it is considering these proposals because of the extensive coverage of home landline and mobile phone services, and low usage of public payphones in these areas.

If you would like to comment on these proposals, you should do so by July 20^th. It is important to note that BT requires evidence and justification for any objection.

• Respond using our Online Form 

After July 20^th, the Council will draft and publish it’s formal response taking submitted views into account where appropriate.  Parish and Town Councils as well as members of the public will then have a further opportunity to comment before the final response is sent back to BT by September 6^th 2008.
