95th Rifles Re-enactment

Eastleigh’s Leigh Road Recreation Ground resounded to gunfire
and barking orders over the weekend as the tranquil park was turned
in to a mock battleground and encampment. The 2nd
battalion of the 95th Rifles set up camp to give
demonstrations of their skills and a flavour of life as a foot
soldier in the Peninsular War or the Battle of Waterloo during the
early 19th century. The event was organised by the
Eastleigh Local Area Committee to attract more people to the town
and this it certainly achieved with several thousand spectators
estimated to have attended over the two days.
