Herbal First Aid Kit
Sunday 8th June
This fascinating half-day workshop with our expert herbalist
will begin with a walk around Itchen Valley Country Park to look
for and collect medicinal herbs and talk about their use. The
second part of the workshop will be spent in the classroom
preparing your own first aid remedies to take home.
1pm - 4pm. Cost £7.50. Please

Hampshire Autistic Society 5 Mile Race & Walk
Saturday 5th July
The sponsored walk is being held at the Park to raise awareness
for the people affected by autism in Hampshire. The day itself will
be full of fun, with refreshments, entertainment, games and
activities for all the family.
Walker's Race £5 - 11am start
Children's Race (5-15 years) £3 - 1.15pm

Moth Magic
Friday 25th July
Join us for an evening of bat detection and moth trapping and
learn a little about these fascinating creatures of the night.
Meet at High Wood Barn at 8.30pm.

Summer Holiday Activity Weeks 2008
There will be three weeks of fun packed nature based activities
at Itchen Valley Country Park this summer for 6-11 year olds. The
theme of the week will take inspiration from some of the
traditional ‘Woodland Tales’ and will involve exploration of the
woods, including the creatures that live there, art and crafts and
games. The groups will be out in the park every day and will have a
go at pond dipping, but will be based in the fantastic new
Kingfisher Room. The scheme will be running for three consecutive
weeks:
28th July - 1st August
4th - 8th August
11th - 15th August
The days run from 9.30am to 3.15pm and the cost
is £70 per week.
Children may attend for one week only as the week is repeated.
On the Friday afternoon parents are invited to come and watch a
short performance on what the children have been doing during the
week. The scheme takes a maximum of 16 children per week supervised
by two Play Leaders. The scheme has a ‘Good’ grading by Ofsted.

Creatures of the Deep

Seashore Safari
Wednesday 13th August
Join our rangers on the foreshore at Hamble to take part in a
shell hunt and some seaside craft activities
Come to Hamble Point Car Park any time between 12 noon and 3
pm.
No charge for activities.

National Lacemaking Day
Saturday 13th September
The Itchen Valley Lacemakers
will be demonstrating the age-old art of lacemaking with a
working display in High Wood Barn, Itchen valley Country Park to
celebrate National Lacemaking day.
Come any time between 11am and 4pm.
Free admission.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Sponsored Walk
Sunday 14th September
Attracting over 1500 people, this annual event is one of the
largest sponsored walks in the South. Why not join in the fun and
raise money for a deserving cause?

Pirates of the Park!
Saturday 20th September
Avast ye landlubbers! Come and be a pirate for a day at
itchen Valley Country Park.
Various activities will be taking place, including a treasure
hunt (costs £1.50 per clue pack including a prize), face painting
(£1.50 per face) and a ma'make a pirate-parrot workshop' (cost £1
per parrot). There will also be a fancy dress competition with a
prize for the best dressed pirate.
Come any time between 11am - 4pm
Tales of the High Seas
Saturday 20th September
To round off our Pirate Day, storyteller Mike O'Leary will be
visiting Itchen Valley Country Park to entertain with his tales of
pirates and plundering.
Starting at 4pm.
Cost £4 adults, £3 concessions, family ticket (2 adults,
2 concessions)£12.
