Diversity and Equality

Eastleigh Borough Council is positive about
Diversity/Equality. The aim of this policy is to ensure that
no job applicant, employee, council tax payer, customer or member
of the public receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of
disability, marital status, colour, ethnic origin, religion,
belief, age, gender, sexual orientation, or is disadvantaged by
conditions or requirements which cannot be shown to be
justifiable.
Equality Monitoring
To ensure that its Diversity/Equality Policy
is working, the Council considers it essential to keep up to date
information about job applicants. All applicants are
therefore requested to give information regarding equality issues
which will be treated as strictly confidential and used for
statistical purposes only. Please note - ethnic origin is not about
nationality, place of birth or citizenship, it is about colour and
broad ethnic group.
People with Disabilities
The Council recognises its responsibility in
respect of persons with disabilities, and undertakes to give
applicants with disabilities full and fair consideration for all
vacancies having regard to their particular aptitudes and
abilities. Any disabled applicant who meets the essential
criteria will be shortlisted for interview. It will
also provide, as far as is reasonably practical, suitable
facilities and make reasonable adjustments.
