Temporary Traffic Restrictions

Please note that from Monday 14 January 2007 there will be temporary traffic restrictions operating in Wells Place, Eastleigh.

The working area for the construction of the Swan Centre extension will extend into part of the carriageway in Wells Place, reducing it to a single lane. This means that there will be no access into Wells Place from the roundabout at A335 Southampton Road. Vehicles wishing to access Mitchell Road for deliveries and the long stay multi-storey car park will need to use Leigh Road and Market Street instead (as shown on the above temporary route).

The temporary one-way restriction in Wells Place also affects deliveries to Wells Road. Instead of accessing Wells Road from Southampton Road and Wells Place, deliveries will directed along Romsey Road, Leigh Road, Desborough Road, Hanns Way and Wells Place. This end of Wells Place is usually closed to traffic but it will be opened to enable access to Wells Road. The attached plan 'delivery route' illustrates the temporary access arrangements to Wells Road.

The diverted traffic routes to Mitchell Road and Wells Road will be fully signed. A number of parking bays in Desborough Road and Wells Place will also be suspended to help lorries negotiate this route.
