Parks and Play Areas
Over the last few years the Borough Council has invested in
improving and refurbishing many of its play areas, as well as
creating new ones, some in partnership with the Town and Parish
Councils.

We would like you to tell us about your
nearest play area / youth facility or the one you go to most
often.
Your views, both positive and negative will
help us in forming a play area strategy. We would also like you to
advise us if there are area(s) which have a shortage of play
area/youth facilities.
All replies will be treated in the strictest
confidence.
To help clarify the split between play areas
and youth facilities, below are some examples as a general
guide.

Toddler Play area – up to 8
years old
Junior Play area – 8-12
years old
Youth Facilities – 12-18
year old
Toddler and junior play areas will generally
contain equipment appropriate to the age group such as

Swings –
cradle seats and/or basket swing

Roundabouts
– or rotating equipment of various sorts

Climbing
frames – ladders/fireman poles/ropes and nets

Springies –
themed rocking items on a spring including see-saws
Youth Facilities:

Multi use
games area (MUGA) containing football and basketball in a fenced
tarmac area

Basketball
goal unit

Football
goal unit

Zip
wire/aerial runways
-
Skate ramps
and BMX parks – ramps etc

Meeting
point – teen shelter
