Other Highway Issues
Vegetation on the Highway

footpaths or reducing visibility on the highway, please contact
Eastleigh Borough Council on 023 8068 8068.
If the bushes are on private land, please contact Hampshire
County Council on: 0800 028 0888 who will be able to issue a
notice to the owners.
Bus Shelters
Eastleigh Borough Council has direct responsibility for the
maintenance of over 100 borough-owned bus shelters and numerous
more bus stop poles.
Hedge End Town Council own and maintain eight shelters within
their area. Likewise, Bishopstoke Parish Council own and maintain
four in their area.
A further supplier is a private company called Ashdel. They
provide and maintain around 50 shelters in the area meeting their
costs by selling advertising space.
The debris associated with damaged or vandalised shelters must
be cleared up as soon as possible. If you are aware of a shelter
which requires immediate attention, please contact Hampshire County
Council – Hampshire Highways Eastleigh on 023 80868484.
For other shelters requiring improvement and non-urgent
attention, please email
Keith
Bignell or call him on 023 80688347.
Street Nameplates
There are approximately 3000 street nameplates in Eastleigh,
forming an important form of information for navigation around the
borough. Our duties include cleaning these, removal of graffiti as
well as replacing plates that are missing, worn through old age,
vehicle impact or vandalism.
Funding for this maintenance is provided by the Local Area
Committees. All too often the costs for maintaining and replacing
these signs far exceeds the available budget.
To reduce costs, new signs once prioritised, are ordered in
bulk. This may cause a delay in replacement.
For further information or to report a missing or damaged
Street Nameplate, please email
Keith
Bignell or call him on 023 80688347.
