Traffic Management

Eastleigh Borough Council's Traffic Management team undertakes work on behalf of Hampshire County Council who, as the Highway Authority, has ultimate responsibility for traffic management in Hampshire. Work is also carried out for each of the five Local Area Committees and can be undertaken for private companies and developers.

Our overall aim is to improve the environment, by ensuring the efficient movement of traffic and use of the highway network, and to increase road safety throughout the Borough of Eastleigh.

Comments, Concerns and Questions:

Various issues are brought to our attention by members of the public. Some of these can be dealt with swiftly and relatively easily, however, many require further investigation.

In order to make the most efficient use of both staff time and available funding, we record those issues requiring more consideration on our Geographical Information System (GIS), a computerised mapping database. Periodically these issues are compared against injury accident statistics to produce a manageable list for further study. This is then referred to the appropriate Local Area Committee who prioritises the areas and or issues that will gain funding for more detailed investigation.

If you have a query or any comments, please email the Traffic Team or see our contact details.
