Sports Funding Guide
Local sports funding is available
through the following schemes:
Eastleigh Borough Small
Grants Scheme
Eastleigh Borough Council operates a Small Grants Scheme that
is able to provide limited financial assistance to organisations
and individuals resident/based in the Borough connected with sport
and recreation activities. Grants can be made towards the
cost of specialist equipment, special events or initiatives and, in
appropriate cases, an individual's competition and training
expenses. The grant does not provide funding for personal
clothing and equipment or for team kit.
Hampshire County Council Sports Bursary
Scheme
Hampshire County Council's Recreation and Heritage Department
offers Sports Bursaries to talented young sportsmen and
women. To be considered for this grant applicants must:
- Be resident in Hampshire, excluding the cities of Portsmouth
and Southampton (this is because they administer their own
schemes)
- Have left, or on the point of leaving, full time education
- Be at least county standard in their chosen sport
Hampshire County
Council Coaching and Officiating Bursary
The aim of this scheme is to increase the number of Hampshire
residents qualified to coach or officiate sport. To be
considered for this grant applicants must:
- Be resident in Hampshire, excluding the cities of Portsmouth
and Southampton (this is because they administer their own
schemes)
- The proposed course must be recognised by the respective
Governing Body of that sport and/or Sports Coach UK
Hampshire F.A.N.S
(Free Access for National Sports People)
The aim of this scheme is to provide national level sports
people with free access to a number of the county's sport and
leisure facilities at designated off peak times for personal
training and development. To be considered for this grant
applicants must be:
- Currently a member of a national team or squad
- Currently listed in the top ten of any national age group
ranking
- Received a sports bursary from Hampshire County Council in the
last twelve months

Other Related Funding Sources
- Awards For
All provides lottery funding to small local groups.
It aims to involve people in local community activities. The
grant is ongoing so there are no deadlines. For more

- BBC Children in Need is
focused on improving the lives of children and funds good quality,
carefully planned projects that are aimed at making a positive
difference to children's lives.
- The Football
Foundation is aimed at helping football at grass roots, or
using football as a tool within local communities. Funding is
also available for community and education initiatives that use
football to improve social inclusion and raise education

- If you have raised commercial
sponsorship, then you could double your funding through
Sportsmatch. The scheme will provide
matching awards of between £500 and £50,000 for projects that aim
to increase participation at grass roots level. For more

- If you are working with a project
that helps marginalised and excluded young people, then there could
be funding through Sport Relief. For more

- Sport England
provides a range of different funding schemes including both
