Local Architecture, Heritage and Distinctiveness
The Borough has in the
past been associated with the maritime and aviation sector and
there continues to be links with those industries, from the Marinas
on the Hamble in the south to the Airport and Railway near
Eastleigh Town Itself.
However, there once was a
thriving strawberry growing area in the borough and it is this link
that has given the name "Hamble Valley, the Strawberry Coast" to
our local tourism marketing..
There are also a number of
buildings of Architectural interest and conservation areas with the
Borough.
Doing Your Bit
- Visit the many distinctive areas
within the Borough.
- Ensure that if you live or work
in a conservation area, you check whether or not you need planning
permission before modifying your building
- If you own a listed building,
double check with planning policy before going ahead with
modifications or demolition
