There are a number of ways in which the Council and Businesses work together.  The Council provides a range of services for businesses, and also buys goods and services from businesses.  This page gives you links to some of the other services within the Council that businesses are most likely to use, together with information to help you understand how we purchase goods and services so that you can be in the best position to become a supplier to us.

Council Procurement

How Eastleigh Borough Council purchases goods and services

Eastleigh Borough Council tries to ensure fairness in the way that suppliers are selected and contracts are awarded.  At the same time the Council has a duty to manage supplies and contracts in the most efficient way possible.  The Procurement Strategy and the Small Business Friendly Concordat explain how the Council intends to achieve these aims.

Hampshire Marketplace

Hampshire County Council together with eight local authorities within Hampshire (including Eastleigh) have set up Hampshire Marketplace.  This is an e-procurement initiative whereby details of participating suppliers to these authorities are held on a central database, using online catalogues, online ordering & invoicing and electronic payments.  Smaller suppliers who are not e-enabled are still eligible to have their details included on the Marketplace database, allowing council staff to see their details when making purchasing decisions. In Eastleigh, this initiative is being introduced one department at a time and is currently being used by our IT suppliers.
