Itchen Valley Country Park Volunteer Rangers
 |
As their name suggests, the Itchen Valley Country Park
Volunteer Rangers work mainly at Itchen Valley Country Park,
although some work is also carried out at other countryside sites
throughout the Borough.
The Volunteer Rangers are local people with an interest in the
countryside. With their help and enthusiasm, Eastleigh Countryside
Service manages and conserves over 800 acres of countryside within
the Borough of Eastleigh, including Itchen Valley Country
Park.

Each month, a practical task is organised by a
Countryside Ranger. These are usually on
the third Sunday of
every month. These tasks can involve anything from building bridges
for public access to planting hedgerows for birds and other
wildlife.
On the
first Monday evening
of
every other month, the Volunteer Rangers meet
to catch up on any news and to exchange views. These meetings are
always informal, making them an ideal way for you to make new
friends. We also produce a bi-monthly
Newsletter
pdf
which includes items
of news, work dates and a bird report. An
annual bird species
summary pdf is also produced by
volunteer Mick Hay.
The Volunteer Rangers are involved with every aspect of
conserving some of the most important wildlife sites in
Hampshire. If you would like a more detailed outline of what
the Volunteer Rangers do, please
download an outline. If you feel that
this is a worthwhile way to spend some spare time and you would
like to become a member, please
