What are the Hampshire games?

The Hampshire Games is an annual multi-sport competition for 7-16 year olds and is the largest event of its kind in the county with approximately 3,500 competitors, 500 volunteers and countless spectators.

It offers many young people their first taste of a large scale sports competition and for many of them it can lead on to their development and competition at a higher level. It also develops young people through wider opportunities such as officiating, umpiring, coaching and volunteering.

When and where do the Games take place?

The recent Hampshire Games will took place at Aldershots Sport facilities in June 2008.

Our involvement in the Games

Eastleigh Sports Development is responsible for:

Organising Eastleigh's entries into the games
Providing pre-games training for the young people in their particular sport - this is usually through community coaching schemes, club training sessions and school work
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sports Partnership undertakes overall organisation of the three games, both before and on the day of the event. Local authorities are responsible for their own district involvement.
