Housing
Complaints
How do I make a complaint about my
home?
If you are a tenant you may be concerned about the poor
condition and repair of your home. We can help by giving you
advice, information and assistance to improve the quality of your
accommodation. If you are affected by the condition of a
neighbouring property, we may also be able to help.
Contact us by:
You will be contacted within 3 working days when an officer
will arrange a mutually convenient appointment to visit you.
If you are a tenant of a Housing Association you should first
contact your area manager.
If you wish to make a complaint about the level of rent you
are paying your landlord you should contact the rent
officer
If you are in dispute with your landlord over the terms of
your tenancy or the payment of rent you should contact the
council's
Housing Advice Service.
What happens next?
The officer will carry out an inspection and your complaint
will be prioritised according to how serious a risk the problems
are to your health and safety.
You will be given advice and information about problems you
can deal with yourself.
If your property is in poor repair or is hazardous to your
health and safety, the officer will take your landlord's details
and contact them with a view to ensuring the property is brought up
to a reasonable standard if this is the best course of
action.
