Enforcement Policy
Eastleigh Borough Council has formally adopted and signed the
"Enforcement Concordat" which is the Government's guide to the
principles of good enforcement policies and
procedures. As a result the Building Control
Service is committed to ensuring that:
- enforcement is carried out in a fair, practical and
consistent manner
- we help you to comply with the legal requirements without
unnecessary expense
- advice and information regarding legislation will be
given in plain language
- we are open about our methods of working
- we provide a courteous and efficient service with staff
identifying themselves by name
- as far as the law allows, we will take account of the
circumstance of the case proportionate to the risks
involved
- if requested, advice is confirmed in writing together
with an explanation why remedial works are required
- whenever possible, discussions take place with a view to
resolving the issue without the need for formal
proceedings
- we take firm action, where appropriate, against those who
flout the law or act irresponsibly
