Different summer....
Summer is a time to let go a little and so
this season at The Point we’re trying out some new ideas as well as
revisiting some audience favourites. A Snip of the Fringe (15-18
May) offers a unique opportunity to see 8 sell out shows from
Edinburgh 07 over three days, with fantastic ticket deals and a
fringe atmosphere in our bar café. Meanwhile, Summer Strides
(15-27 June) offers two weeks of films, community dance
performances and workshops and two very special events with the
collected works of maverick dance/film artists Liz Aggiss and Billy
Cowie and a visit by Jonathan Lunn’s wonderful company. Then for
the first time this year Summer
Sparks! (28 July – 3 August) takes over The Point
with a season of films and comedy performances for children as
soon as school breaks up for summer.
This summer also sees some exciting
developments at The Point. On Monday 4 August
the venue will close for a month so that building work
can begin on our phase3 building project which will provide a range
of improvements to existing facilities and a brand new studio and
rehearsal space on the site. We’ll be open again this September to
launch the autumn season as usual but building will continue
throughout next year and the new Point facilities will be unveiled
in autumn 09. We’ll keep you posted of developments as we go of
course and you’ll be able to get an update at any time on our web
site.
So as the weather gets warmer, the doors are
flung open and the café tables move outside to the garden we look
forward to seeing you for something a little different this
summer.
