These restored gravel works offer the ideal day out for all, and for the keen-eyed, the Country Park has a range of birds, insects and small mammals as well as the occasional fox and deer. Enjoy a walk around with your dog on the designated paw trail; stop and have lunch at one of our picnic sites. Relax with a days fishing, or a fun ride on the train, or just watch the world go by...

Eastleigh Borough Council’s Countryside Service is preparing a new Management Plan for Lakeside Country Park. The new Plan will outline how Lakeside Country Park will be managed over the next ten years, and include a programme of improvements, both for visitors and wildlife.

Watersports

Waterside tree planting helps to make the ideal sheltered location for water activities including canoeing, model boating, windsurfing and dinghy sailing. However for everyone's enjoyment and safety no motorized craft, inflatables or swimming is allowed.

There is a charge for use of the lakes, which includes access to the pavilion. The pavilion provides groups with changing rooms and showers, a small kitchen and a 16 seater lecture room. Booking as far ahead as possible is essential. Groups need to register each year, book with a member of staff and abide by the rules and regulations.
Water quality is regularly tested during the summer and the site has achieved a high standard of cleanliness.

For further information please refer to the documents below for the 2008-09 season:-

As from April 2008 individual users are no longer permited to use the water.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome in the park. However, to protect wildlife and ensure that everyone enjoys their visit "Dogs on Leads" byelaws apply to the mown area around the Pavilion building and around the lakes.

We ask all dog owners to follow a couple of simple rules:-

  • Please pick up after your dog, there are dog bins around the site for your use.
  • Please keep your dog under close control as this site has sensitive wildlife and not all visitors are fond of dogs - especially muddy ones!

Wildfowl

Please do not feed the geese and ducks as it :-

  • Encourage disease (enteritis in ducks).
  • It can attract rats and more food means more rats!
  • It pollutes the water.
