  • Chandlers Ford Festival 2009

 

Chandler’s Ford Biennial Festival returns this year and will run from 7th to 21st June 2009.  It will be celebration of the diverse talents that exist in our community and an opportunity to showcase those talents in a number of public performances and exhibitions around the area.  The whole festival will be a combination of familiar and new events.

        The subway in Winchester Road near Thornden School has received a major facelift this summer thanks to hard

        work by the students of Thornden School and funding from Hampshire County Council’s Passenger Transport

Background

The four wards of Chandler's Ford East and West and Hiltingbury East and West form the northern most part of the Borough and elect eight Councillors. This area borders Test Valley to the west, Winchester to the north and the M3 to the east.

Some 20,000 residents live in Chandler's Ford and Hiltingbury and the area is largely suburban in nature with Hiltingbury in particular a highly desirable residential part of the Borough.  It includes a number of small shopping areas, but there are areas of open space, refurbished lakes, managed countryside sites and attractive walks as well. 
 
The two large secondary schools have impressive reputations drawing in students from well outside the area. There is a private hospital and an industrial estate sited locally so all in all an area of significant contrasts.
