Asked Questions
Main Menu
The main menu is the primary means of navigating around the
site. The menu is located just underneath the image at the top of
each page.
Clicking on one of the options will open up the home page for
each of these sections, comprising the main details for each
section and the sub-manu down the left hand side.
Depending on the browse, hovering over the menu will reveal
a secondary menu showing the child pages underneath
each main section. This will give some idea of the information
available underneath each main section without having to wait for
the section page to download. Clicking on one of these child pages
will open up the page directly without the need to first open the
home page of the section.
Top Menu
The Top Menu appears at the very top of each page. This menu
contains secondary options, either containing alternative
views of the current page, e.g. text only, or alternative ways
of accessing the required information, e.g. a - z. The options on
this menu are as follows: -
- Home (appears on every page accept the home page)
- links back to the home page of this site
- Help - provides information on how to use this site (including
this page)
- Access Keys - Main areas of the site
can be accessed by keyboard shortcuts as well as by using the
mouse. This section describes the areas available and keyboard keys
to use.
- sitemap -
a hierarchical view of every page of the site
- Complaints - the least used section of this site explaining how
to make any complaint about the Council
- contact us -
provides facilities to contact the council to request information
or services and to allow feedback on Council services
- faq -
abbreviation for Frequently Asked Questions. Provides a search
facility for questions most often asked about the Council and the
services it provides. For example, "Do I need planning
permission?", "What is a tree preservation order?"
- a - z - Provides a
list of all the services and information provided by Eastleigh
Borough Council, surrounding Councils and organisations working in
partnership with this Council to serve the local community.
- text only - any page can be viewed in a restructured form
without graphics and with basic text colours. This option is useful
where internet communication links are quite slow.
- Print only - provides a more suitable view of the current
page without site navigation for print purposes.
Access Keys
Main sections of the site can be accessed using keyboard strokes
in addition to using the mouse. For details on the sections of the
site available and the keystrokes required, please refer to the
section on Access Keys.
Site Map
The site map provides a hierarchical view of the website
structure, listing the main sections of the site and all the
pages contained within each section. By clicking on a page the
user will automatically be taken to the requested page.
Popular Pages
This facility contains a list of pages that the Council deem to
be the most useful on any given day. Javascript it required to make
this work, in some circumstances this facility maybe unusable
though the Council has taken steps to ensure that most people will
be able to use it.
The list will change depending on the provision of "topical"
content and current issues and interests.
A to Z of Services
This is an alphabetical list of all the services provided by
Eastleigh Borough Council and some information on services provided
in the Eastleigh area by Hampshire County Council, other local
councils and organisations working in partnership with
Eastleigh Borough Council to serve the local community.
Search
This facility allows searching of the entire web site
for any word, group of words or phrases contained within this
site.

Frequently Asked Questions
It is quite likely that if you have a question about an aspect
of the Council, or a service that the Council provides, somebody
else has already asked this question. Rather than having to contact
a Councillor or officer of the Council, searching the list of
published questions way well answer your question.
To search the questions, simply type main keywords of your
question into the search box on the Frequently Asked Questions page and click search.
A list of questions will be displayed, click on the question that
best matches your question to see the response.
If you cannot find a question that matches yours, you can either
submit a question, though you will not get a response direclty you
will need to keep searching the Frequently Asked Questions section,
alternatively fill in a form for Eastleigh
Direct for a response directly back to you.
