Home Energy Conservation
Eastleigh Borough Council's Home Energy Conservation
& Fuel Poverty Strategy
We all use energy in our homes to provide heating and run
appliances. In the UK the majority of this energy is
generated from burning fossil fuels such as gas and coal.
This process produces carbon dioxide, a major cause of climate
change.
In this country our homes are responsible for 25% of the
carbon dioxide emissions. In Eastleigh we are helping
residents to reduce their energy use. Over 1,000 households
each year are advised by the Energy Savings Trust Advice
Centre (ESTAC) through the free Home Energy Check
Service.
To take advantage of this service or further advice
on energy conservation or about options for renewable energy in
your home call the local Energy Savings Trust Advice
Centre on 0800 512 012.
The Council's Home Energy Conservation and Fuel Poverty
Strategy explains the work we are doing to reduce energy use in
domestic properties. The current Strategy is about to expire and we
are consulting on a new Strategy to take effect between 2008 and
2011. If you wish to comment on the new strategy, visit the
HECA Strategy Consultation webpage.
The
Energy Saving Trust
website is an excellent source of information on
insulation, heating, energy efficient appliances and
lighting.
