The amount of Local Housing Allowance will be based on the
number of bedrooms to which you are entitled under Local Housing
Allowance rules, not the number in your home. Customers
entitled to 5 bedrooms or more will only be entitled to a Local
Housing Allowance rate for a maximum of 4 bedrooms.

Details on how to calculate how many rooms you are entitled to
are detailed below. Alternatively, an online
calculator is available for you to use.
For couples, couples with children, single
parents with children and single people aged over 35
One bedroom is allowed
for:
- An adult couple
- Any other adult (16 or over)
- Any 2 children of the same sex aged up to and including 15
years
- Any 2 children under 10
- Any other child
- A room for a non resident carer to stay overnight
